Sales Manager
Run the sales floor — monitor reports and response times, keep the team moving, use the AI assistant, and know exactly which settings are (and are not) yours.
Sales Manager
You hold the manager role: the workspace's operations lead. You can do everything with leads and
most things with the team, but you cannot touch credentials, billing, or promote anyone to admin.
Who this is for
Sales managers / team leads who run agents day to day and report to the business owner. Owners: read Business Admin / Owner instead.
What you can do
- All lead operations — view, create, edit, delete, import, export, bulk-assign; move stages; mark won/lost; log calls and notes.
- Pipelines & stages — view and manage (
pipeline.manage). - Forms — full CRUD on lead-capture forms.
- Automations — create and edit lead automations.
- Integrations — view and manage connected integrations (not platform credentials).
- Reports — view and export everything the Reports group offers.
- WhatsApp — send, manage templates, view logs. The connection/credentials stay admin-only.
- Team — invite members, edit member/manager profiles, change roles between member/manager. Never an admin's profile, and never the admin role itself.
- Manager-tier settings — General, Branding, Business hours, Team.
Your daily rhythm
Morning — the numbers and the bottlenecks
- Home dashboard — scan the live lead feed and the needs-attention widgets.
- Leads → first stage —
/admin/leads. Add the saved filter for "new, uncontacted" and assign or clear the queue. - Follow-ups — anything overdue before today gets owned by someone specific.
- Reports → Response time — if today's first-response average is slipping, say so now, not at the weekly review.
Mid-day — unblock the floor
- WhatsApp Inbox (
/admin/conversations) — look for stale, unanswered threads. Remember the 24-hour rule: outside the customer-service window, free-form replies fail; send an approved template instead. - AI assistant (
/admin/ai-assistant) — ask for a summary like "leads in stage X this week with no activity" and turn the answer into assignments. The assistant reads your workspace data; it does not act on its own. - Calls — spot-check that call outcomes are being logged (
Callsin the sidebar). Unlogged calls are invisible in every report.
Weekly — the review
- Agent performance — calls, conversions and stage movement per rep.
- Source performance & attribution — which sources produce deals, not just leads.
- Bottleneck — the stage with the longest dwell time; fix process, not people, first.
- Revenue by rep — closed value, so commission conversations are based on records.
- Ads → Overview (
/admin/ads-dashboard) — a read on campaign spend vs leads; formal ad changes go through the Zodiac Tech agency team. - Send the owner a two-line summary with links to the reports (or schedule the report so it goes out automatically — Reports → Scheduled reports).
Team management — your part
Sidebar → Team → Team Members (/admin/users):
- Invite a member — the invitee gets an invitation; roles offered: member, manager, admin.
- Edit a member or manager — name, email, password reset, role changes within member↔manager.
- Suspend someone who has left (keeps their lead history intact).
What you cannot do, by design:
- Edit or delete an admin (including the workspace owner) — account-takeover protection.
- Grant or revoke the admin role — only an admin can create admins.
- Delete an admin, even with team.manage-style intent — the check runs against both the role and the tenant pivot.
Your settings range (and its edge)
Settings → sections you can open (manager tier): General (currency/locale/tax), Branding, Business hours, Team.
Settings → sections that are admin-only (you cannot open them): Email/SMTP, WhatsApp connection, Security, API keys, Storage, AI keys, Messaging, Queue/Realtime, Mobile login, Domain — and the whole Billing portal.
Why some pages look hidden Manager-level surfaces (Reports, Ads, AI) hide themselves from sales agents to keep their sidebar short — that is a visibility tier, not a permission bug. Your access and theirs are enforced separately. See RBAC.
Common mistakes
- Deleting a lead instead of marking it lost. Deletion removes the timeline, calls and WhatsApp history — reports lose the evidence. Use lost reasons.
- Editing a form that live campaigns use without telling anyone — field mappings on the Meta side can break silently.
- Treating the AI assistant as a decision maker. It summarises and suggests; it never changes records by itself.
- Bulk-assigning then walking away. Reassignment without notification leaves agents blind — automations can notify, use them.
Technical details
- Manager permissions from
DatabaseSeeder::rolePermissions['manager']: leads CRUD + export/ import/assign, pipeline.manage, forms CRUD, automations CRUD, integrations.manage, reports.view/ export, team.view + team.invite (no team.manage), settings.view, whatsapp view/send/ templates.manage/logs.view. - DELETE actions require
delete/managepermissions; theHasRolePermissionstrait enforces them per resource.
