Business details
Wizard steps 1–2 — tell the CRM about your business, then pick your industry so a ready-made sales process is installed for you.
Business details
The first two wizard steps are about who you are: your business identity (step 1, "Tell us about your business") and your industry (step 2, "What type of business do you run?"). The industry choice is the important one — it installs a ready-made sales process, lead fields and automations tuned to your line of work, so you start with a working CRM instead of a blank one.
Who this is for
- Workspace owners and admins doing initial setup.
- Anyone changing the recorded business name, type or industry later.
Difficulty: Easy · Time: 3–5 minutes · Prerequisites: you are logged in as owner/admin and the guided wizard is open.
Step 1 — Tell us about your business
- Open
/admin/guided-setup(the first step is waiting on a fresh workspace). Enter:- Business name — how your business should appear everywhere in the CRM (for example "Sunrise Institute").
- Business type — the kind of company you run (helps recommendations and reporting).
- City — where you operate; used on customer-facing messages and reports.
- Save the step.
- What happens: the values are written to your workspace settings and the step is verified against real state.
- Expected result: the step shows Done and the wizard advances to What type of business do you run?
Use these values on invoices for details The business name is what your team sees across the CRM. Use the name your customers know you by.
Step 2 — What type of business do you run?
-
Pick the card that matches your business best. The available packs are:
Industry Pack key Agency agencyAutomobile / dealership automobileCoaching / training coachingDental clinic dental_clinicEcommerce ecommerceEducation / institute educationFinance & CA finance_caLaw firm law_firmLocal services local_servicesMedical clinic medical_clinicReal estate real_estate -
If none fits, choose Other — you will build your own sales process later in the wizard.
-
Confirm the step.
-
What happens: choosing an industry installs that industry pack into your workspace:
- one pipeline with its stages (your sales process),
- custom fields for the data your industry tracks,
- tags, email templates and starter automations,
- a lead form template.
-
Expected result: the step completes once your industry is saved and a pipeline exists. The next step (Connect your Facebook account) opens.
The pack never destroys existing work If your workspace already has a pipeline, installing an industry pack never overwrites it. The wizard skips pipeline creation and leaves your process untouched.
Expected result
- Your workspace has a business name, type, city and industry saved.
- A sales process (pipeline + stages) exists — from the pack, or one you built yourself.
- The wizard has moved on to Connect Meta.
Common mistakes
- Picking "Other" and expecting a template anyway. "Other" installs no pack — you will create your sales process yourself (the wizard offers "Set it up myself" when you reach the sales process step). Everything else still works normally.
- Picking a loosely-related industry "to see what happens". The pack shapes your pipeline, fields and automations. Pick the closest real match; you can customise everything afterwards.
- Filling a generic business name. This name appears across the CRM and reports — use your real trading name.
- Looking for a "city" field later. It is stored as part of your onboarding details; there is no separate city setting elsewhere in the CRM.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Business step will not complete | Name or business type missing | Fill all fields and save again |
| Industry step shows unfinished after choosing a type | No pipeline exists yet (pack skipped because of an error, or "Other" chosen) | Create your pipeline in the sales process step, or pick a listed industry |
| The expected pipeline was not created | A pipeline already existed — packs never overwrite | Use your existing pipeline, or edit it under the Pipelines area |
| Wrong industry chosen | The industry is saved as-is | Ask your account manager or support to adjust it; a pack install never overwrites an existing pipeline, so nothing you have built is lost |
Technical details
- The business name lives on your workspace (tenant) record; business type and industry are stored in the workspace settings JSON as
settings.onboarding.business_typeandsettings.onboarding.industry. - Pack installation:
App\Services\IndustryPackService::install($key, $tenantId, $options), definitions inconfig/industry_packs/*.php(11 packs). - The wizard installs a pack only when no pipeline exists for the tenant; pack defaults (including a round-robin assignment suggestion) are applied through the same storage the Lead Assignment settings page uses.
- Resolver conditions (
App\Services\GuidedOnboarding\OnboardingStateResolver):businesscompletes when the business name and business type are set.industrycompletes when an industry is set and at least one pipeline exists.
